A silence, a failure to act, a small untruth, a bold and naked lie...

Deception comes in many shapes and sizes. There is the small white lie, where the intention is to be kind, to avoid hurting someone's feelings with the truth. At the other end of the scale there are the big deceptions : lies told to escape punishment for wrongdoing, lies told to defraud, to cheat, to bear false witness. Another kind of deception is allowing someone else to continue with a false assumption, when we could put them right whit a word. But do we always need or want to know the truth?

So, as Thomas Grey wrote :"Where ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise".
